  • Connector miniaturization trends (tooling, manufacturing, contact geometries)
  • 3D printing for connector manufacturing (additive manufacturing)
  • “Smart“ connector trends
  • High-speed connectors (backplane; I/O; fiber optic and copper based)
  • HF connectors (BTB)
  • Connectors for specific applications (e.g. ATEX)
  • Circular connectors for robotic applications
  • Ethernet connectors for industrial applications (single pair Ethernet)
  • Connectors in the digital world (digital twin)
  • Connectors for IIoT, wearables and smart clothing
  • Connectors for automotive applications (miniaturization)
  • High-current connectors up to 500 A (motion control, charging systems)
  • Single-cable interfaces between motor and drive with hybrid connectors
  • Connectors for agricultural and construction machinery
  • Connector solutions for medical engineering
  • New materials and surfaces
  • Surfaces for PCB connectors (gold finger)
  • Selection of materials for insert molding and 2K processes
  • Materials, layer composition, surfaces, additives/lubricants
  • Delivery times for raw materials and plating
  • Error patterns and causes for connectors
  • Connector reliability (failure probability, FIT rate calculation from a user perspective)
  • Best practice: Which cable is suitable for which connector?
  • Best practice: Which PCB layout is suitable for which connector?
  • Best practice: Solutions for combining different connectors on a printed circuit board
  • New technologies
  • Other

Workshops are highly practice-oriented hands-on seminars with active participation by the attendees. This is ideally implemented through practical exercises using instruction materials, tools, systems and inspection devices. Workshop instructors shall not cover the topic in theory only.

Basic Seminars:

  • Connectors – Key characteristics and terminology (Dr Helmut Katzier)
  • Fundamentals of contact physics (Dr Helge Schmid)
  • “The Connectarium” (Herbert Endres)
  • Plating surfaces for contact materials (Thomas Frey)
  • Base materials (Stephan Groß)
