Thomas Fili

Fellow R&D | TE Connectivity Germany GmbH


Thomas Fili studied materials science at the University of Erlangen from 1989 to 1995. After graduating, he worked there as a research assistant (1995-1999). He began his industrial career at the BMW Group in Munich (1999-2001) as a development engineer for corrosion protection.


He then moved to FCI Automotive Deutschland GmbH in Nuremberg, where he held various positions, including materials and surfaces expert and laboratory manager (2001-2012).


In 2012 he moved to TYCO Electronics AMP GmbH and worked as Manager Test & Validation Germany until 2016.


From 2017 to 2023, he took on the role of Director Test Engineering & Prototyping Automotive EMEA at TE Connectivity Germany GmbH and headed the test centers in the EMIA region.

Thomas Fili has held the position of Fellow R&D since 2024.



He has extensive experience in the automotive industry. His expertise extends to testing, materials, surfaces, and contact physics. In addition to his main job, Fili is a lecturer at Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences and a trainer at various institutes (Hdt, VDT, THE Academy).
